'Carol Singing with the residents at Lime Gardens'

'Joy to the World!'
Our worship on the evening of the third Sunday of Advent was on the theme of 'Christmas Around the World'.  It was led by people in our fellowship who come from South Africa, Jamaica, Rwanda, India, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Afterwards we all shared in a supper of dishes they generously provided - a foretaste of the heavenly banquet.

Advent Service of Light

As part of our preparations to celebrate Christ's coming we held a Service of Light on the evening of Advent Sunday.   People read Bible passages used at this time of the year which remind us of how Christ's light spreads high and low, over east, west, north and south. These were interspersed with Advent hymns and the lighting of candles, which expressed our hope that God's reign of justice and peace may cover the earth.

Saints Alive!

The musical by Roger Jones was performed in October by a choir put together especially for the performance.

All Souls

On the evening before All Souls' Day we held our annual service for remembering with thanksgiving those who have died. Everyone who attended was welcomed with a sprig of rosemary, a herb associated with love and remembrance. People were deeply moved by the candle-lighting part of the service. Afterwards refreshments included traditional soul cakes.

Prayer Meeting at Leasowes Park

For our midsummer evening prayer meeting we held prayers in Leasowes Park Halesowen on the theme of 'Water.' Leasowes is Grade 1 listed for being one of the first landscape gardens in the country. It was created by William Shenstone around 250 years ago and famous visitors included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and John Wesley.
Water is vitally important to the park, so that as people walked around it they were aware of its sight and sound as it flowed through the valleys and rushed over the cascades and plunged into the pools.
Evening worship at 6.00 pm on 3 July will be led by members on the theme 'Water of Life.'

Aldersgate 22nd May 2016

On the evening of Aldersgate Sunday, 22 May, we commemorated the spiritual experience of John Wesley on 24 May 1738.
The picture shows those who took part in the service - Jill Guest, who told of Wesley's visit to Cradley on 19 March 1770, four years after the first Methodists began meeting in the village; Margaret Kite; Janet Jones; Bev Bevan; David Eades, who spoke about the distinctive Methodist emphases; Tony Wildboar and Maggie Postings.

Good Friday Sevice

In our Good Friday meditation service 'Seven Nails' we listened to the story of Jesus' final hours as told in Luke's Gospel and we reflected upon how similar attitudes to those which put Jesus on the cross are within us too. Members of the congregation were invited to hammer a nail and a piece of red ribbon on to a cross to symbolise the ways that we contribute to causing hurt to God.
We sang 'His dying crimson, like a robe, spreads o'er his body on the tree' and we gave thanks that 'God has brought us to new life in Christ.  For he has forgiven us all our sins; he has cancelled the bond which was outstanding against us with its legal demands; he has set it aside, nailing it to a cross.' (Colossians 2: 13-14).
